Smile though your heart is aching;
Smile even though it's breaking.
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by.
If you smile through your fear and sorrow,
Smile and maybe tomorrow,
You'll see the sun come shining through for you.

Light up your face with gladness,
Hide every trace of sadness.
Although a tear may be ever so near,
That's the time you must keep on trying,
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile,
If you just smile.

That's the time you must keep on trying,
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

Previously written on "A little bit of blather"

"Thankfully K-Fed hasnt seen WWE airtime since the last pay per view he was at."

Turns out this isnt true. While I was waiting for Heroes to come out of commercial break I caught some of RAW tonight. John Cena was in the ring talking about wrestling Umaga on Umbaba, or something. One of the Divas, named Melina, comes out to tell Cena he needs to focus on someone else. Apparently this certain someone was being trained to wrestle Cena at the next big pay per view. Who is that someone?

You really want to know?

Sure?

Ok Just checking. Kevin Federline is back! Back like the taste in your mouth after you've eaten a California roll.

Okay, K-fed wasnt there in person (they had his picture up on screen), but that doesnt lessen the pain. Its like Bill O'Reilly on tv but with his mouth taped shut.

WWE, I know you aren't in the habit of listening to anyone including fans, but please get rid of Federline. He ain't a rapper, hes not a wrestler and hes not a respectable father! Put this white trash where he belongs, the recycle bin.

"Ya know ya want meh"

Now I have to wash my mind with bleach, thanks. Maybe this site too.

I declare this site to be a No Loser Zone. I will not speak of the above loser from this day forward. Now if everyone will do the same.

Mid Season Tv Blog!
Mood:  chatty
Now Playing: Must still see tv
Topic: Review Time

Its almost the end of the year, my fave shows are being taken off for either reruns or ooey gooey Christmas specials. (barf gag. ok I'm done now). This is the perfect time to talk about the shows I watch or have stopped watching.

CSI: LAS VEGAS -  At the end of last season it was revealed that Grissom and Sara Sider are sharing more personal airspace. This put me in a slight despair because some relationships on some tv shows might actually help kill it off (for more info see this page I made ages ago on tv coupling. Yes its slightly dated, http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Set/4860/couplesroot.html) . I thought all of a sudden Grissom would turn goo goo eyed and that would make me sicker than most of the murder victims on the show.

But so far so good, there is very small "shipper" things going on other than Sara saying she wouldn't wait up for him. Keep it this way. Fanfic writers can write stories about Sara/Grissom on their own time. No complaint from me.

Shark:  Pretty much abandoned that after two weeks. See previous article for more details. Turns out liking one or two stars won't make me stay with a show unlike...

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip: which I am still watching. Its a good quality show, and I love it. (And no it has nothing to do with the fact that I crush on one of its male leads.)

Brothers and Sisters: Never tried, forgot it existed.

Heroes: The other Monday night show I love. Its gotta be a good show in order to draw me away from WWE on a regular basis (ok and 24 too will do that when it returns.) As long as no one pops on spandex, its fine with me.

Boston Legal: Have been bad and mostly missing some episodes this season. One show had not one, or two but four Star Trek alumni on it (The two regular leads plus  Ethan "Neelix" Phillips and Armin "Quark" Shimerman).

Law and Order : All three series made casting choices that cheesed me off. I know, cast changes are part of the shows territory but why is it people I like?

Dennis Farina is off the original series. Replaced by woman I can't remember. Have stopped watching it mostly because the stories are too often "ripped from the headlines" instead of original.

Criminal Intent: Jamey Sheridan is gone now replaced by Eric Bogosian. (you also get to see him on Special Victims unit). Plus Courteney Vance is gone replaced by, I dunno since I can't remember.

Annabella Sciorra, Chris Noths partner on Criminal Intent when Vincenbt D'Onofrio isnt on was also replaced. She hasnt really made an impression on me. I tune out when she speaks.

This other casting change was inescapable. When Mariska Hargitay had her baby it was natural that she would miss a few episodes of Special Victims Unit, but the woman they had in her place made me wish she was back sooner. I called her "Psuedo-Benson" anytime I saw her. Oh well, at least one good episode with Jerry Lewis made up for that. (**cough**EMMY**cough**)

WWE: There seems to be a lot of missed chances this year for them.

For example, they had K-fed on the show. He just got divorced from Britney-poo. Wrestling Diva Lita has retired, pretty much ending one of the "premiere" couples of wrestling (barf barf gag). What to do? Kill two birds with one stone, and pair up K-fed with a Diva and make the new premiere couple of RAW! Who to choose? Mickie James? Too much like Britney. Victoria? Potentially psycho. The sky is the limit.

Thankfully K-Fed hasnt seen WWE airtime since the last pay per view he was at.

Countdown With Keith Olbermann: Perfect, don't change a thing. Maybe less Michael Musto in the New Year, ok big guy?

Okay, what else...oooh I'm a fan of Inuyasha now. Great anime.

Thanksgiving Blather
Mood:  happy
Now Playing: Thanks

As Thanksgiving ends in the US, I decided to post a list of things I am thankful for this year.

I am thankful for the promise of a new day every day.

I am thankful for people who speak what people sometimes need to hear. It may not all be good, but we need to hear it.

I am thankful for my job and the people who work with me. They are surely wonderful people.

I am thankful for my family, and my mother especially.

I am thankful to those who helped me in my time of need this year.

I am thankful to my net friends. Never let it be said that I am ungrateful for your kind friendship.

I am thankful to People magazine who made George Clooney Sexiest Man Alive this year.

There are so many thanks to be listed, yet I only listed a few.

Let me get serious for a second here.

This holiday season go out and do something for your community. Donate to toys for tots, or to a local charity. Take some time to work at a soup kitchen or a senior citizen center. Do something for your fellow man this holiday season, so they can be thankful for you as well.

November Blawg
Mood:  not sure
Now Playing: I'm not reading TV Guide Anymore
Topic: Rant time

OR "Why I've stopped reading TV GUIDE and let my subscription lapse".

I havent blogged in a while and its mostly because I didn't have a topic. Why blog when you have nothing to say? I know, this comes from a girl whose blog uses the word "Blather" in the title. As I was about to create a new topic out of whole cloth...I remembered that I had said I would write about TV Guide in a future blog. Well the future is now the present and so here it is.

I am not renewing my subscription to TV Guide. Why?  Several reasons.

1. Its no longer special. Once in a while you would get a great collectible cover with some great animation or a wonderful picture. Great issues about the 50 best, and the like have places in my collection.

But that changed a year or so ago. One looking like a little book, the TV Guide was changed to a regular looking magazine. Just like everything else. If you ever look at the magazine stand at your store the magazine blends in with everything else. The TV Guide of old used to stand out and demand to be noticed. The only good change that also happened is that its back to 1.99$ a pop rather than the almost three dollars it was getting to. But thats the only positive thing.

I understand TV Guide probably had to make some changes, heck its competition these days are schedules on the internet, tv guides provided by your daily newspaper and guides on sattellite tv. This is very understandable, but there was no need to change the classic format.

2. Listings have become an afterthought. There are more news (though calling it news is iffy since you read about it two weeks AFTER it happened) and there is a lot of behind the scenes stuff too. But there is more of this than actual listings in the magazine. Telling you what time it is on almost comes third to tell you the gossip and the behind the scenes stuff.

3. Sudoku - only its letter style rather than the number style. I'm surprised people are still playing this thing.

4. The TV Guide Channel manages to be worse. They have Joan Rivers and daughter on during the red carpet entrances to the awards show. When thats on the listings really become an afterthought there. You have a better chance of finding Jimmy Hoffa then reading what two milimeters they give you at the bottom of the screen. Joan and her latest face of the week takes up all other space.

Ok so barely three or four reasons for me to stop reading, but its reason enough for me. What will I do now? I suppose looking in the newspaper will be enough for me. A tv guide should tell you whats on, maybe a few other things, but thats about it.

Wednesday Blawg`
Mood:  not sure
Now Playing: Featuring Mr Britney!
Topic: Randomness Alert!

I know I had said two things in my last blog:

1) That I would give Shark another chance.

2) I was going to see The Marine over the weekend and promised a review.

This, as you can imagine, didn't happen. I worked the last two Thursdays in a row. When I got home I pretty much didn't care about watching it. I feel like I missed nothing. So no second chances, not planning on seeing Shark ever again.

As for the Marine movie, as WWE's Snitsky might say "its not my fault" for not seeing the movie. The closest it came to my location is about an hour drive away so Cena or no Cena, I wasn't about to travel that far when the town ten miles away could have played it. It stunk. (Uh the movie being an hour away, not the movie itself, but judging by box office it must have stunk up a theater or two.) But back to John Cena in a bit.

Its time for my latest entry in my series of "People who must go away." This weeks member (and keep the joke to yourself I know what word I used) Kevin Federline.

Ah Mr Britney himself. First we met him when he knocked up Brits (and some other girl) and married her (maybe not in that order). Then he decided to become a wrapper...excuse me...rapper. He appeared on the Teen Choice awards and made Vanilla Ice feel better about "Ice ice baby". He even invades the vast field of "Keeping Tabs" when on Countdown.

But now hes gone too far.

Hes STALKING me.

Well not that way. Hes turned up on TWO shows I like, and I am fearful of him appearing in more.

Exibit A: CSI - appeared as a teenager even though hes 28 years old. He taunts Nick Stokes (played by the handsome George Eads) at the latest scene of a random beatdown. Nick finally has enough and socks K-fed in the tummy, making him my fave CSI of the week. I won't spoil the ending. (ok he was part of the random beatdown. He gets busted, do not pass go, you can not have any of the casino buffet.)

Exibit B: WWE RAW - K-Fed appears as himself mostly to push his new expensive frisbee...I mean CD. Current WWE RAW Champ John Cena comes out and delivers a verbal smackdown to him making me a temporary John Cena fan. Temporary meang it ended ten minutes later.

I fear he will appear on some other show I watch. Why can't he do the right thing, and get LOST? I don't mean the show with seemingly the population of Delaware on one island, I mean "Beat it slappy!"

Next blog? I'm not saying since it does sooo well to plan them out in advance (meaning not at all), but I will see you round the blathersphere.

Monday Blawg
Mood:  celebratory
Now Playing: Stuff on my mind
Topic: Randomness Alert!

Not even a month into my new tv season and already one show I had high hopes for is slowly dropping off my must see list. Its Shark the James Woods show I was looking forward to the most. James Woods is one of my favorite actors. For that reason alone I chose his new show to watch. But slowly but surely Mr Woods is becoming the only reason to watch the show. The rest of the cast (including Jeri "seven of  nine" Ryan) is not very interesting. When you watch a show you want to see people you want to get to know. Me, I can hardly wait for them to get off the screen. "Sharks" lawyer proteges don't interest me, and I forsee a stupid affair down the road for Mr Woods and the Borg chick. I have no proof it will happen but trust me, when it does. I called it!

I'm a good sport. I will give them ONE last chance, maybe two. At least finish out the month. Ok I'm stalling.

Nancy at the movies: I went out last Thursday to the theater in a local college town. I saw Jet Li's Fearless. It is an awesome movie. Jet Li is becoming one of my favorite martial arts actors. (Jackie Chan and Chow Yun Fat tie for first. And dont get on my case about not including Bruce Lee, I've never seen one of his movies)

Before the movie I went to the bookstore and to my surprise picked a Bill Maher book, "New Rules". I like Mr Maher. Hes good in small doses. Unlike Bill O'Reilly, who is good in no doses. At the store I was at there was more copies of his book left for sale than others like, say Al Frankens new book. Billos lastest uh book is already at 20% off. Not a good sign.  Buy one though, it'll make a spiffy door stop.

I also got a Dave Barry book.

I am hoping to see John Cenas movie "The Marine" on Friday. If I do, I promise a review. If not, I'll see you around the blather-sphere.

Tv Time
Mood:  a-ok
Now Playing: Last of my new shows
Topic: Review Time

Remember how I said I was going to review Brothers & Sisters and Heroes. Well turns out only half of this will be true. Admittedly I missed Brothers & Sisters. I decided that rather than look all over the place for a summary or wait for a rerun, not to watch the series. Strange decision I know but I'm not in the mood for catching up for something that just started. Who knows how long this show will last? Anyway I am getting strong "Thirtysomething" vibes off this show anyway. Typing the title is starting to be a pain as well.

Heroes: I like it but it has the makings of a cult show like Firefly. One of my dear friends hints a lot of X-Men influence. This is true, since on character shares a power with one of the comics main characters. (Wolverine, and no its not the nice finger-knives they share).

I will update this part in about a month and let you know if any of the shows I'm watching is still on the air. Meanwhile I do plan on getting to the movies soon. Really I do.

Book Club Chapter Two
Mood:  cheeky
Now Playing: Other stuff to read
Topic: List-O-Mania

There are far better stuff to read than "Those who Trespass" . Actually reading one of them pamphlets you see in the doctors office would be a lot better than reading any of Bill O'Reillys stuff. But I digress. Here is a small blog on what I think is better to read. You may not necessarily agree with me, thats ok.

 **

"Buy my book! Buy my book! Buy my..."*

One suggestion: Keith Olbermanns "Worst Person in the World" book available just about everywhere!

Another suggestion: Billboards. Not Bill O'Reilly boards, those signs on the freeway.

The backs of cereal boxes. Sometimes there are games, which is an added bonus!

TV Guide is also a O'Reilly alternative. (Though I'm not going to read it any longer, reason why will be a future blog subject)

Ok seriously, authors I've come to love are James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell, Jonathon Kellerman and more recently Michael Crichton. Any of their books is better than "Those Who Trespass" .

Next blog you see will be about Calista Flockhearts show Brothers & Sisters and Heroes on Monday night.

** Picture supplied by the very cool Trekkerlass

*catch the "Critic" referance?

Nancys Fall Season
Mood:  chatty
Now Playing: Freshmen!
Topic: Review Time

I often try a new show or two when the new season starts. This year I am trying four. "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" , "Shark", "Heroes" and "Brothers & Sisters" . All dramas, not a comedy among them. (I seriously got burned when I hitched my star to the Friends spin off "Joey" It never made it to season three.)

I go by first impressions. They, I think, are critical to what the series is like. Its also slightly unfair cause I have seen the pilots to shows I love and found that they wouldnt have grabbed me at first so its an iffy practice.

Last year I sampled only one new show "Criminal Minds". Depsite the appearance of Mandy Patinkin, Thomas Gibson and many others, this show never grabbed me. Its in its second season now. I have never watched beyond the first episode.

So far I've seen two pilot episodes. One more is forthcoming on Monday. ( "Heroes" debuts before episode two of Studio 60).Brothers & Sisters is on Sunday night. A review of that will come in the same blog as "Heroes" I am posting my first impressions of the first two pilots I've seen now.

Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip: In the first episode/pilot nothing much happened. Like in all first episodes the situaton was being set up. Next week I will be able to get more into it. Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford are great in it. You'd think they were old friends, they have great chemistry. I am hearby calling for a Emmy nomination for Judd Hirsch next year, for his Howard Beale-like rant alone, even if hes never on the show again. I can't  wait to see what this show does.

Shark: James Woods is a defense attorney turned prosecutor. James Woods is one of my favorite actors, and  I think he carries a strong screen presence. I am already looking forward to next week. And its after CSI: Original Flava.

I am also realistic and know some of these shows might not survive (Past shows I liked, including "The Handler" , and "Mds" didn't last the season, and in one case not past Halloween.)

So out of the four shows I am going to try, I predict that "Heroes" will be replaced by extra episodes of "Deal or no deal"  with "Hair or no hair" Howie Mandel before sweeps.
