Movie Reviews
Mood:  happy
Now Playing: Mini Reviews
Once in a while I will review some movies. Not long reviews, and I promise not to spoil the end of the movie. I will leave that to the movie trailers.

Wedding Crashers: Pretty good, but I could have lived without the "sexually confused brother" of the two female leads. It adds nothing to the story.

King Kong: The new version is the first time I've seen any version all the way through, so that does mean something. It's three hours long, but it doesn't feel that way.

Fun With Dick and Jane (new version) : Very funny! To tell you anymore would ruin it. Jim Carrey and Tea Leoni are in this one.

Fun With Dick and Jane (1976 version) : A lot of the things are the same in the new version as the original version, except for small details, but its OK. I liked the new version better. George Segal and Jane Fonda are in this one.

Movies to look forward to in 2006, for me so far:
Underworld 2
The Poseidon - the remake of The Poseidon Adventure.
X-Men 3

Don't you hate....
Mood:  incredulous
Now Playing: TV DVD's
I would buy more dvds of TV shows if not for one thing; anytime I buy one the show starts being rerun on TV. I bought season one of Angel and TNT picked it up, and I haven't bought a season of it since. I know that the reruns are different than what the sets provide but figure why spend then money when you can almost see it free. Now if they would show it at times other than 7 a.m. but thats a topic for another time.

For a Christmas present to myself I bought season one of House MD. Happily rewatched two episodes the other day. During Law and Order Criminal Intent I spy an ad for, guess what, House MD. They will start showing them next year. Second season only a few episodes in and they are already syndicated. Good for anyone who doesn't have Fox, not so good for anyone who forked over money for the first season, like me.

Perhaps it won't be so bad, at least I can bask in the glow of the extras that come with the set.

2006 is coming!
Mood:  chatty
Now Playing: Another jolly list!
Topic: Okay next week but still
The year is almost over and 2006, the Chinese Astrological Year of the Dog, will be upon us soon. The following are things I want and don't want to see in the year to come. Warning, there may be something resembling deep thought in this piece, so readers be advised!

Things I don't want to see

Natalee Holloway coverage: Yes, its sad that shes missing, but until something significant happens, like finding her, there shouldn't be anything on TV till then.

Ads at movie theaters: Movie trailers are all right but if you are going to show me the same ads that I can see at home for almost free, I will stay home.

Less hog wild coverage of celebs love lives on TV "news" shows: Mostly meaning ET and Access Hollywood, but it creeps into other news programs as well. At first its nice to hear about it, but then you get tired about it and you slowly start to not care. If your only news story of the day is about Brangelina, try harder!!!

Less reality shows, at least no more around celebrity lives. For every Osbourne, there is a blonde chick wondering about her tuna fish.

No more spin-offs for "CSI" or "Law and Order", there is such too much of a good thing.

Hurricane coverage - Specifically reporters on camera in the middle of the storm. The radar tells us there is a hurricane, yet reporters are still reporting in the middle of rain and wind and what not. You can safely do this from inside folks. I fear that someone will die doing this before they stop doing it.

Things I do want to see:

On the behalf of some friends, I would like it if MSNBCS Countdown brought back the weekly news quiz, even if its on a limited basis.

More videos on MTV, but thats not going to happen, so god bless VH1 classic!

More of my fave shows on dvd: More MST3k, Parker Lewis Can't Lose, Daria (music copyrights will understandably keep this from happening for a while). I would like to see these shows on dvd.

If you can't make a show better, take it off the air, Joey - this means you.

Celebrity Jeopardy - Bring that back please. Maybe sometime in the future I will list some names of people I'd like to see.

All in all not too many complaints, I think. 2006 should be a good year for us all! Happy New Year!

A Remembrance
Mood:  sad
Now Playing: You will be missed
Topic: John Spencer 1946 -2005

Never had I imagined

Living without your smile

Feeling and knowing you hear me

It keeps me alive

Alive

And I know you're shining down on me from heaven

Like so many friends we've lost along the way

And I know eventually we'll be together

One sweet day

TV!
Mood:  lazy
Now Playing: I dont get the appeal of...
There are a few shows and people I don't get the appeal of. I will share them with you, as long as you don't try and get me to watch it and see if I like it, my mind is made up.

Prison Break - I know there is a prison and there will be a break, but whats going to happen after that? I get the feeling the big let down will happen whenever season two starts.

Desperate Houswives - Most of what happens on that show, that I've seen of at award shows, just leaves me flat. Most storylines probably happen on daytime soaps as well. Oh by the way, can you say "overexposed"? The hype makes it seem better than sliced bread.

Lost Lost is one of those shows that I put under the category of "if you havent watched from the first frame, you might as well not even try to catch up". Another one thats overexposed... a lot of shows on this short list are overexposed.

Grey's Anatomy - I decided to be a fan of just one medical drama (House MD).The last time I tried a new medical show it got canned (Mds a couple years back.) It's major sin is displacing "Boston Legal" to Tuesdays.

Some people who I don't the appeal of:

Nancy Grace - She's....she's....damn shes just scary.

Paris Hilton - Shes famous for just being born. I fear the day she takes over the Hilton empire.

Bill O'Reilly - I don't get the appeal of him. He's a blowhard and as of late his mouth has gotten him into a variety of troubles.

I may be bitter, most shows I like get cancelled....hmmm. Maybe if i start being a O'Reilly fan he will retire and go away. Its so crazy, it might just work!

Premiere blather-ing
Mood:  happy
Now Playing: World Premiere Blather
Topic: Top five movies
Hello there. I've never blogged before, but I'm giving it a go. Nothing much to say but I've decided to make a short list of my top five movies of the year 2005. Some of them will be on video, at least two won't be for a while.

1. Good Night And Good Luck - A brilliant piece of film about Edward R Murrow directed by George Clooney. It's up for four Golden Globe awards and I hope it wins them all. Incidentally, Murrows line "Good Night And Good Luck" can be heard nightly if you watch the absolutely brilliant Keith Olbermann on MSNBC. (Eight eastern)

2. Batman Begins - Christian Bale invigorates the series with his performance as Batman/Bruce Wayne. I can hardly wait for the next one.

3. Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire - The best Potter film yet. I didn't start out as a Potter fan but the lad grew on me. Not literally, that would be strange.

4. Fantastic Four - Not so many people would have this far up on the list but there are two reasons to watch it: for the great action and for the guys! Yeah, I know, its borderline teeny bopper behavior.

5. Serenity - AKA the Firefly feature movie. I was not a Firefly fan when the show was on the air but I loved it. I should have watched it, but I was a fan of Ed at the time.

Movies I want to see:
1. Walk the line.
2. Rent
3. Syriana
