Usual Suspects
Courteney Cox Arquette as Monica

"And you think you know it all"

Rachel looked out after Chandler when he left.
"What was that all about?" she wondered to herself. She then picked up the phone and dialed. Monica picked up.
"Hello?" Monica said.
"Hey, are you doing anything?"
"Not really."
"Can I come over?"
"Sure." Monica said. "I always enjoy your company."
"I'll be over in a half hour." Rachel said.

Minutes later

Chandler left the store with the box in his hand. He opened it, looked at it then smiled.
"This is the right time." He said. "I sure hope she thinks so too." He put it in his coat pocket and headed to work.

Monicas restaurant

Rachel had met Monica at her house. Monica was about to have breakfast. She then offered to treat Rachel to breakfast at her restaurant. Rachel wanted to do the the honors but finally Monica won out because she could have the meal free anyway.
"So how are you and Chandler?" She asked after their eggs Du Monique were served.
"I'm fine. Chandler I don't know." Rachel said. "He just found out that his dad and Phoebes mom were dating!"
"Chandlers dad?"
"I know!" Rachel said.
"And I thought he was..."
"Yeah! Exactly." Rachel said.
"Well, I guess everyone can use a change." Monica theorized.
"I've never even met his dad." Rachel said.
"Me neither." Monica said. "When we almost married that time we thought we might see his dad out there, but he was away in London."
"Or so he says." Rachel smiled. "After all, he could have been seeing people all over the world."
"Thats not the only thing is it?" Monica asked. Rachel looked at him.
"He just barely left. To where I don't know." Rachel said eating her eggs slowly. "He got this phone call. Seemed very hush hush about it. I heard something about something being ready for him. Then he left before I got a chance to ask him about it. Very strange, even for Chandler."
"What if hes getting something for you?" Monica said.
"Nah. It's way too soon after our reunion." Rachel said. "I have to ask, you never said anything during this whole Chandler and Ross thing."
"I know." Monica said growing quiet.
"I'd like to know your feelings." Rachel said.
"Some things are better left unsaid." Monica said.
"Please. It might be better than sticking it in a bottle."
"Ok. But remember you asked." Monica said. "I thought it was very uh wrong that you bounced between Ross and Chandler for so long. I wanted you to make some sort of decision." Monica said. "I didn't like it. It seemed sort of weird and karma like in Ross's case after the whole thing with Chloe years ago. But I got a feeling about it wasnt about some sort of cold revenge. Now that I really do think about it, you couldnt really make up your mind for sure for the longest time."
"I think I know for sure now." Rachel smiled. "I just wish what I knew what Chandler was up to."

Work

Chandler kicked his feet up on his desk, something he wasnt able to do when Wesley was there. That was once thing that Chandler didnt know about Wesley, that he was very very picky. He didn't like Chandlers "housekeeping" around the office. In an eerie way, it almost reminded him of Monica.
Chandler took the box out of his pocket and put it on the desk. He picked up the phone and dialed Rachels cell phone. It rang but no answer. She must have left it at home. She probably went out for a while and forgot it. Thats ok. He'll get her later.

"So whats the situation on your singing guy." Rachel said. "You said it was Steve. Has he made any moves?"
"Yep." Monica said. "But not for me."
"What?"
"I know." Monica said. "What I didn't tell you was that for the last few days he been singing songs with all the names of his ex-girlfriends in them."
"So it wasn't just you?"
"Exactly." Monica said. "He was singing them up to yesterday. Then I saw him the other night with some blond."
"Oh I'm sorry Mon." Rachel said.
"I'm not, I wouldnt have taken him back even if he tried." Monica said. "Past is past. I'm on to the future."
"What will you do?" Rachel asked.
"My horoscope for this year promises a new and unexpected love. I'm hoping thats true." Monica said. "But you never know."
"Don't doubt the horoscope." Rachel said. "Sometimes those things can be right." She got up. "Can I use your phone? I want to call Chandler at the office."
"Sure."
Rachel picked up the phone. As she started dialing Chandler came in.
"Hi?"
"Hi." Rachel said hanging up the phone.
"Can I talk to you?" Chandler said. "I have something to tell you out here."
"Really?" Rachel said. She looked at Monica. She waved to her. "Okay."
Chandler took Rachels hand and led her out to the street.
"I'm sorry."
"Okay." Rachel said. She thought for a second. "Why?"
"Leaving today without telling you where." Chandler said. "Plus for acting weird when I found out about my fathers new dating life."
"Understandable. At least the last part."
"Ok." Chandler said. "We've been togeher for a long time."
"Yeah."
"But I think its time to move, forward or backward." He said and got on his knees. He got the small box out of his pocket. "I'm hoping you go for forward."
"Oh my god." Rachel said as Chandler opened the box. There was a beautiful diamond ring in it.
"Will you marry me?" Chandler said. "I completely understand if you don't..." Rachel leaned down and kissed Chandler on the lips. "What makes you think I would say no?"
Chandler sighed. "So now what?"
"What else?" Rachel said. "We get to tell everyone and plan a wedding."
"Or we could go to Vegas." He said.
"Or we could go to Vegas." Rachel said.
"It doesnt matter where, just that its you that I'm going with." Chandler said.
"Shall we go spread our joy?" Rachel said.
"Sure." Chandler said. "We have a lot to give."
