Rachel and Chandler had barely gotten off the plane when he got another call off his beeper.
"What can that be?" Rachel said looking at the 3000 signal on Chandlers beeper. He picked up his cell phone and dialed.
"That happens to be Wesley's number." He said. He put the phone to his ear. "When we worked together we set up some codes for our beepers. 1000 means call when you can, 2000 - asap."
"So whats 3000?" Rachel said.
"Put a fire under it, call me back now!" He replied as Wesley picked up.
"Where were you Bing?" Wesley asked. "Did you shut your beeper off or something."
"Gee, say hello for gods sake."
"Fine. Hello for gods sake." Wesley replied.
"Whats the trouble?" Chandler asked. He grabbed Rachels bag with his free hand. It was a small satchel that he got for her in Chicago. She wrapped her arm under his arm.
"Big board meeting." Wesley said. "Don't ask how I know about it. Go to your office as fast as you can!"
"But I gotta take Rachel home..." He looked at Rachel.
"Now!" Wesley said and hung up.
"I have no place to go." Rachel said.
"Thats right." Chandler said. "I'll bring you to my place. That bed ought to still be there."
"Thanks." Rachel said. "I don't know what I would do without you."
"Hopefully now we won't have to find out." Chandler said as they went out to the car.
A few minutes later
Chandler unlocked the front door to his place. Rachel took one of her bags and went to her old room. Chandler dumped the rest of his stuff on the couch.
"Wow. I'm getting major de ja vu here." Rachel said as she came out of the room. "Remember when I first moved in, and I had no more than a bag of department store clothes?"
"Sure." Chandler said. "I'm sorry." Chandler kissed her on the forehead. "But if I dont get to the office, my butt could be on the line."
"I understand." Rachel said. "If you dont have a job, then we wouldnt live here."
"We." Chandler said softly. "I like the sound of that."
"Now get going!" Rachel said. "I'll be here when you get back."
Chandler kissed her again, but on the lips this time, and walked out the door.
The office
Chandler was surprised by the presence of Wesley in his office.
"Hello there." He said. "Nice outfit."
"I didn't have a chance to change." Chandler explained. "What are you doing here?"
"Have you forgotten?" Wesley asked. "Apparently so. Our two companies merged. So technically we are coworkers again."
"What about the place across the street?" Chandler asked. "All of us aren't gonna fit in one building."
"They fired a lot of the underlings." Wesley explained. "Luckily we survived. But we got a new boss coming in from the west coast. Thats all I know."
"Have you met the new boss yet?" Chandler asked.
"No." Wesley replied. "They are in a meeting right now. Over there." He pointed a couple doors. They were opening up. A woman came out with a couple of Chandlers upper level bosses.
"She looks familiar." Chandler mused aloud.
"They all do." Wesley joked. "You don't know your own bosses?"
"No, the woman." Chandler pointed out. "Maybe she will turn around."
The woman turned around and looked at Chandler.
"Oh my god!" Chandler said. "Linda!"
Linda waved at Chandler and walked down the hall. Wesley gulped as she approached.
"Hello Wesley, Chandler." Linda said. "Hows the wife?"
"Funny meeting you here again." Chandler said.
"Funny, eh? I see you still got a good sense of humor." Linda said with an evil smile on her lips. "Wanna know whats even funnier?"
"What?" Chandler said looking uneasily at Wesley who was drinking a cup of water.
"I'm your new boss!" She said starting to laugh. Chandler moaned. "Whats the matter Chandler? Why arent you laughing?"
"Uh." Chandler mumbled.
"I gotta go now." Linda said returning to normal, somewhat. "See you around, Bingy." She waved before slapping him a sort of welcome on his butt.
"That was strange." Chandler said cringing a bit.
"That was beyond strange." Wesley said. "I hope she doesnt think shes getting back with you."
"Me too." Chandler said. "I gotta go. Speaking of Rachel I gotta help her move back in to her room."
"What are you, stupid?" Wesley asked.
"What?"
"You have the girl, and you are moving her into a separate room?" Wesley sighed. "Boy you do have problems!"
Chandler looked at him
"The Bing Suite"
Rachel had gone to her old place. She had her key and managed to get as much as she could fit into one cab ride over back to the apartment. Ross was very generous about letting her take what she needed. There were some things that were questionable, so she let it stay until she could talk to him. When she got back, Chandler was waiting for her on the couch.
"Are you moved into the other room?" He asked her.
"No, I just got my stuff from Ross's place." Rachel said.
"I been thinking. Since we are gonna be together. Do you really want to be in another room?" Chandler said.
"No." Rachel said.
"I don't want to sleep alone." He said getting up. "In fact, I got most of my best sleep when I was with you. And my talk with Wesley today helped me understand that."
"What was the big meeting thing about anyway." Rachel said. "Wesley seemed real intent on getting you there."
"Nothing big. New merger, new building, old girlfriend is my new boss. It was ok really." Chandler said.
"What, old girlfriend is your new boss?" Rachel asked.
"Lindas back." Chandler said. "And I think shes back for more than just the money."
"What can you do?"
"Nothing, at least until she makes the first move. Which I hope never happens." Chandler said.
"Me too." Rachel said. "The heavier stuff is still downstairs."
"I'll get it." Chandler said.
"You go ahead. I'll be right down." Rachel said. She stood there for a moment after he left. Linda was back. She sighed, getting an incredible chill down her spine. She only hoped it wasnt the creepy omen she thought it was.
