The One About The Dance Craze

Chandler/Joeys place
Late night Friday

Joey stretched and walk out the door of his room. No sooner than he had opened his eyes he slammed into the large bookcase he had in front of part of the door. As he winced and moved around the bookcase he was greeted by an unusual sight.
Chandler was sitting in his leather seat staring straight ahead.
Joey briefly thought that he was awake, his eyes were wide open. It looked like he had been hypnotized by the TV set.
"Chandler!" He hollered. No reaction. "Hey Chandler!! Wake up!"
Chandler did nothing. Joey went over and lightly tapped him on the shoulder. He jumped half a mile.
"Aaaa!" Chandler said as he woke up. "Whats happening?" He looked at Joey. "Didn't I tell you not to watch me sleep anymore?" R "I can yell your name till I turn blue, but I touch you once and you go bonkers." Joey said. "And that was Eddie who watched you sleep."
"Thats what my gym teacher said once." Chandler stood and scratched his head. "I could have sworn I was in bed asleep."
"What were you dreaming about?" Joey said, suddenly sounding like he knew what he was talking about.
"Janice." Chandler paused.
"Sure that wasn't a nightmare?" Joey inserted.
"No, I dreamt she came into my room and said she wanted to talk to me. The next thing I knew you woke me up."
"Its just a dream, forget about it."
"How can I?"
"Think of something nice." Joey said. "Watch this. I'm gonna think of something nice now." He closed his eyes, then a couple seconds later he nodded his head and chuckled quietly to himself.
"I don't even want to know what you're thinking about." Chandler said and left Joey there with whatever thought was in his mind.

Morning
Monica/Rachels place

"Wow that is bizarre." Monica marveled as Chandler retold his dream.
"I know, its like that dream when you are speaking at your high school graduation naked." He said drinking his coffee.
"How did you know that was what I was thinking last night?" Joey asked.
Chandler ignored that, "Where's Ross? He's usually here by now finding out what Rachels doing for the night by now."
"I don't know." Monica said. "Its some top secret project, and as usually I don't know a thing."
"Its very strange. It's really bugging me!" Chandler said getting up. "Gotta go to work."
"Is that boss guy still slapping you on the butt?" Phoebe asked as he opened the door.
"Yeah, I'm beginning to wonder if I still have a butt."
"You should have taken my idea about rubbing something smelly on your pants." Joey reminded him.
"Okay." Chandler said closed the door.
"It worked for me!" Joey yelled as the door slammed shut.

Downtown Dance Studio

Ross was in the dressing room getting changed back into his suit when one of the instructors came in the door.
"Sorry about that." Ross apologized.
"Thats all right... people step on my feet al the time."
"Yeah but not three times in ten minutes."
"The swelling will go down." The instructor said way too cheerfully for her own good.
Ross nodded.
"Will you tell me again why you're taking macarena lessons?"
"Well I was hoping to learn how to do it while it was still a hip dance craze." Ross said. "I'm hoping to impress a girl."
"Well I hope you come back and learn how to do the rumba, that never goes out of style."
Ross put on his shoes. "She doesn't like the rumba, I stepped on her feet five times."
"Five times?" The instructor asked. "Must be some girl."
Ross thought for a minute. "You have no idea." He got up and went out the door. "Shes okay, I guess."

Chandler/Joeys Place
Later that night

Chandler quietly changed into his night clothes. He turned to close his door and saw Joey camping out near the book shelf.
"Whats this?" He asked.
"I wanted to make sure you didn't sleepwalk tonight." Joey answered.
"I don't sleepwalk."
"Thats what people who sleepwalk usually say."
"Well, okay. But don' t come in, alright? Eddie watching me was freaky enough."

Midnight

The door creaked open and Chandler stepped very artfully over Joey, who had fallen asleep at his post. He paused for a minute when he heard something. He looked down at Joey who now had a big goofy grin on his face.
"I'm better off not knowing." Chandler thought and walked to the door. He slammed face first into it. He backed up a step, opened the door. As he reached the hallway a loud deafening noise blared out behind him. Chandler jumped nearly a foot. He turned to see Monica and Rachel out in the hall. Rachel had an air horn, the type that you would get at a hockey game or a basketball game.
"Good thing Joey told us about what happened last night in the living room." Rachel said.
"When did he do that?"
"When you left this morning."
"I don't have a problem. Its just a very weird dream."
Monica opened the door to her apartment. "Why don't you tell us about the dream? Maybe once you get it off your chest you'll feel better."
"Then you won't have to worry about me falling down the stairs." Chandler said.
Chandler sat at the kitchen table. "I haven't seen Janice in a long time but I keep dreaming about her."
"Thats it?" Rachel said. "I thought you having a dream about entering the marathon and were going out to practice."
"Janice keeps asking me to go back with her, and I keep saying yes. I guess thats how it happens."
"Maybe if you told her no she will go away, and you'll stop having the dream."
"Didn't that happen in Nightmare on elm street?" Monica asked.
"Yea, but Janice is far from being Freddy Krueger." Chandler said getting up.
"Thats a matter of opinion." Rachel said.
"I'll go back to my place." Chandler walked out the door.
"Will he all right?" Monica asked Rachel as she rinsed a leftover glass out.
"Thats also a matter of opinion." Rachel responded as she turned the light off.

Chandler opened the door to his place. It was incredibly dark in there. He walked slowly around the foosball table in the kitchen and headed for his room. His left foot caught under something heavy and he flew into the bedroom. He got up and looked. Aparently he had tripped over Joey who just sprung up and turned a light on.
"I told you I would help." Joey said proudly.
"Yeah, you're just a knight in shining boxer shorts."
"Thanks." Joey said as Chandler closed the door. "Maybe I could be your body guard."
Chandler cracked open the door. "No, no, no. Be an actor, be a cop, be anything but be my bodyguard."
"Okay." Joey said as he watched Chandler close the door.
"That also means you can go back to your room." Chandler noted as he didn't hear Joey walking away.
Joey went back to his room ."Well allright."
The end
knight in shining boxer shorts aren't you?" Chandler said closing the door. "Anytime pal." Joey shouted through the door. "I oughta be your bodyguard." Chandler opened the door. "No. No. Act, be a singer, be a senator, do anything but be my bodyguard." "Okay," Joey said and left as Chandler closed the door again. The end
