Chandler waited with Joey and Greta downstairs at the front door. They were waiting for the others to arrive.
"Whats going on?" He asked Joey.
"You'll see." He promised.
"Okay." Chandler said not really sure what to think. Greta sat on the front steps fixing her hair. "Do yoou know anything about this, Greta?"
"I promised my Joey I wouldnt say anything." She said putting her brush away.
"Oh." He said again. He turned to see Ross's car turning the corner. Rachel was in the passengers side and Phoebe and Monica sat in the back. He pulled over and parked it on the curb. Rachel waved to him as she got out.
"Whats going on?" Phoebe called.
"I dunno. Joeys suddenly good at keeping his mouth shut." Chandler said.
"I left the girls with Allison." Phoebe said hugging both Joey and Greta.
"Can you tell us now?" Chandler asked looking at Rachel. Ross had an arm around her. She glanced over in his direction.
"Now that everyone is here, sure." Joey said. "You want to tell him?" He asked Greta.
"Wow, deja vu." Phoebe said laughing. They had said the exact same thing the night they announced their engagement.
"I got another soap opera!" Joey said. "I'll be some kind of baron. Really an uptight guy." He said. "My agent got me a great advance on the role. We were gonna celebrate but we decided what better way to celebrate than to take all my friends on a trip!" He said.
"Thats great!" Rachel said as she hugged Joey. "I'm so happy for you."
"Us too." Monica said as Ross shook his hand.
"Where are we going?" Ross asked.
"Ohio." Joey said. "There is this great new theme park I want to take you too. One of my actor friends is an investor in it. I promised that I would come by sometime."
"Technically he got the role last week," Greta explained. "so he knew you all would get some time off this week."
"How did you know I'd get time off?" Chandler asked.
"He called your boss last night. Apparently he was a big fan when he was on the other show so he agreed to it." Greta said. "Strange but true."
"Wow." Chandler said. "He barely lets me have a day off, let alone a week."
"Yeah." Joey said. "We leave tomorrow. I'll meet you all at LaGuardia at 7 am."
"Great." Ross said writing the date down.
"Ross, thats tomorrow, you're not gonna forget this soon." Monica said.
"A trip!" Rachel said to Chandler. "This is gonna be some fun."
"I know. Now all we need is a poster and some blueprints to lose." He said. Rachel gave him a weird look. "Remember when the Bradys went to that amusement park?"
"Oh!" Rachel said. "Right, right." Ross tugged on her arm. "Oh I gotta go. I have a lot of packing to do." She said. Phoebe and Monica were waiting in the car.
"See you later." Chandler said.
Rachel went to the car. Ross helped her in then got into his own side. Rachel looked at Chandler as they drove away.
The Plane Ride
Somehow Ross and Rachel got divided into different parts of the plane. Chandler noticed that when he got to his seat he saw that Rachel was sitting in the seat next to him.
"Well hello again." Chandler said sitting down. "Fancy meeting you here."
"Same here." Rachel said. "Isn't first class nice? Too bad Ross and the others are sitting in the back. Joey and Greta are seated up a couple of rows ahead of us." She said.
"I wonder why?" Chandler said adjusting his seat cushion.
"Last minute booking, I guess." Rachel said. "Hey it was bound to happen. Let's enjoy the ride."
"What did Ross think?" Chandler asked.
"He perfectly undrstood. At least thats whatI think he said." Rachel explained.
"Would you like some champange." A flight attendant stopped at their row.
"Wow." Rachel smiled. "Sure." She took the glass that was handed to her.
"Sure." Chandler took his glass.
"Have a nice flight." The attendant said and left their row.
"This is nice. Trip, bubbly." Rachel said about to sip from her glass.
"Wait. Let's make a toast." Chandler offered. "Its only right after all. Plus Robin Leach might come and hit over the head with a tin of caviar."
"Okay." Rachel said and raised her glass. "What shall we say?"
"I got one." He said smiled. "To what lies ahead." He clinked her glass.
"To what lies ahead." She returned the favor.
They sipped the champagne. Rachel looked out the window at the scenary. Chandler sat back in his chair and fell asleep.
Ohio
After they landed, all went to the hotel rooms Joey had reserved for them. Luckily the ones they had were not very far from the park. It was a couple of blocks away, not a very far walk at all. Joey hadnt managed to get a rental van so he tried to get as close as possible. Joey and Greta would share a room. Ross and Rachel were together and so were Monica Phoebe. The weird arrangement sort of left Chandler in the cold.
"Where do I sleep?" He asked standing next to his bags.
"I never really figured on seven people." Joey said. "I guess I miscounted or something."
"You can stay with us, honey." Greta offered.
"Oh no I wouldn't want to impose on your privacy guys."
"You can stay with us." Rachel said. Ross looked at her. "We got an extra bed in our room. It wouldnt be that much of a problem, right Ross?" She asked him.
He seemed to take it in consideration for a long time.
"Sure." He finally relented. "Why not?"
"Thanks Rachel. And Ross." He Said.
"Go throw your bags in our room." Ross said.
"Yeah, we'd like to get to the park before it closes." Monica added.
The Park
It was decided immediately upon arrival that it would be better if everyone split up into groups. It also so happened the group were split up among rooms. Greta and Joey went their own way. Monica and Phoebe decided to go to the food pavilion. Ross, Rachel and Chandler once again ended up in the same group.
"This is getting to be weird." Ross noted.
"Eh, let's not think about it." Rachel said. "Let's go on a ride." She said pulling his hand. They walked over to the short line that lead to an overhead ride. It was a ride that held two to three people and ran for a mile before ending up at the other end of the park. Ross was behind another woman in line. The woman got into the ride car.
"Oh, I'm with her." Ross said pointing to Rachel.
"Look, either get on or get off. I need to have two people in this car." The man operating the ride said.
"Go ahead Ross." Rachel said. "We'll be in the next one."
"Ok." He said kissing her on the cheek. He got in and the man pushed the button that sent the car away.
"I don't like heights." Rachel said as the next car approached. "I know we flew but this is different."
"Here." Chandler said as he helped her in. They sat on the small "bench" the car provided. He grabbed her hand. "I'll hold your hand. Are you allright?"
"I feel safer already as the car left the platform. They felt the small sudden drop as the car rode smoothly along the track.
"This is nice." Rachel said looking over the side. "Hey Joey!" She waved to Joey and Greta. Joey had won Greta a big purple dog. Greta waved and blew a kiss. "this is a lot of fun."
"Yeah." Chandler said as he looked up ahead. Ross was seated facing the front. He seemed unaware of anything thats behind him. "Whats going on with you and Ross?"
"What do you mean?" Rachel said looking at him.
"You know what I mean. You are not really together but you are living together." Chandler said. "Seems really weird, like its leading up to something."
"I can't say yet." Rachel said. "I'm not really sure myself." She sighed. "I'll tell you later. Ok?"
"Ok." Chandler said as he held onto her hand. They sat quiet for a few minutes. They looked deeply into each other, as if they could read each others thoughts. There was a slight bump they didnt feel. "Oh the rides over." He said as the car door was being opened.
"So soon?" Rachel asked. Ross appeared and helped her out of the car.
"Ready?" Ross asked.
"Sure." Rachel said as they descended the stairs that lead off the ride.
"I'm gonna go back to the hotel." Chandler said. "I'm gonna get some rest."
"But we just got here." Rachel said.
"We got a two day pass." Chandler said. "Just a little jet lag, ok?"
"Ok." Rachel said.
"Let's get something to eat." Ross said as Rachel watched Chandler leave.
That night
Ross stood outside the hotel room. He turned and saw a woman looking at him.
"Do I know you?" She said.
"Don't think so." Ross said. "Regina?"
"Yeah."
"You used to work at the musuem, how are you?" He asked.
"Just fine." She said "You here with friends?"
"Yeah, and my fiancee."
"Oh congratulations." She said. "When do you think it will happen?"
"The sooner the better." Ross said.
Rachel was brushing her teeth when she stumbled across a note on her pillow. She unfolded it and read it by the bathroom light.
"Rachel, meet me by the tunnel of love tomorrow at noon."
It wasn't signed. Rachel looked over at Chandler who was asleep. Ross was back for a few minutes before joining the Monica and Phoebe in their room. Either one could have written the note but she couldnt place the handwriting.
"So noon tomorrow? I guess I'll have to wait and see." Rachel said before climbing into bed.
11:59 at the Tunnel of love
Rachel stood at the front of the line waiting for whoever had left the note on her pillow last night. She was nudged by the operator.
"Are you going or not?" He asked her.
"Ok, I'm going. Its gonna look awful strange if I dont." Rachel said getting in.
"It looks strange you going alone but whatever." He said as he set her little boat in motion. She squinted as she rode inside. It immediately got dark then light again with the mood lighting. It stopped suddenly. She felt the boat rocking a little as someone got in. She jumped up in surprise and fell in the water.
"Rachel?" She heard the voice say. She was completely underwater. The man reached in and pulled her out.
"Whos there?" She said water in her eyes. "This water is disgusting!" She spat out.
"Its me." The voice said. She looked at him.
"Yeah." She smiled. "I guess so."
