"Pretty Baby"

Stacy had her things packed and ready to go. Half of her items were already in the back of the dirty yellow taxi. Chandler and Stacy stared at each other as they cabbie packed the last of it.
"Can I have a second to say goodbye?" She asked the cabbie as he closed the hood to the cab.
"Sure, its your nickel babe." He grumbled and seated himself inthe drivers side.
"Well, I guess this is it." She finally said.
"Yeah." Chandler said.
"I'm sorry for the way things turned out. I think we really had something there for a while." She said smiling uneasily.
"After what you told me...."
"Heres the thing about what you hear, you never know is it true or is it not?" She kissed him on the cheek. "I guess you never know." She opened the cab door. She looked at him, her hair tossed back by a slight wind as she did so. "So long Chandler." She got in the cab and left.
Chandler stood on the curb of a second and watched the cab depart. He thought for a second.
"Wait a sec, if what she said is true...then the whole thing was...oh man!" Chandler laughed out loud. A group of children looked at him. He glanced their way and the kids ran off in a sprint. He shook his head and went back upstairs to his place.

The "Gellers" Place

It seemed to strike like an epidemic. Something drove them all the to the same place. It started with Rachel.
She had been feeling uneasy for days. Like her stomach was rejecting everything she chose to eat. Finally, at noon that morning, she sped to the bathroom with a speed unknown to any woman, or man. She closed the door as Ross called her name.
"Rachel?" He said. "Lunch's almost ready."
She started throwing up.
"Oh come on, you havent even tasted it yet." Ross said in the kitchen. He had been making a new recipe for corn that he had taken, reluctantly, from Monica. He took a small spoonful and ate it. He made the crossest face and drumped the mix in the garbage disposal. "Honey, we're going out for dinner!" He called.
"Okay." Rachel said standing by the door.
"Ok." Ross said. He turned to her. "Are you feeling all right?"
"Sure, why?" She said.
"You look very pale, and very tired." Ross said.
"Oh," Rachel said. "I felt that but I wasnt about to go on my own diagnosis."
"You better lay down." Ross said, as he reached over to her.
"No, I think I better go to the doctor." She said. "I think this is more than just your normal sick."
"What do you mean more than just your normal....oh!" He grabbed her coat and led her to the door.

Doctors office

To Rachels surprise, there were two other people at the office that she knew.
"Alison?" Rachel said wearily. "Monica what are you doing here?"
"Probably the same reason you are." Monica said hugging her. "We both think we're pregnant too."
"Oh my god." Rachel said. "Me too. Wheres Wesley?"
"Over here." He said reading an old newspaper. "Did you know Elvis died?"
"Hey." Rachel said looking at Monica. "You dont have a boyfriend."
"Don't remind me." Monica said. "I think this is the result of a one night stand."
"I didnt even know you had one of those." Rachel wondered.
"A guy at the restaurant set me up on a date he swore was the one for me." Monica said. "He stayed till breakfast, then he left before it was even done. He said my cooking stank and that he only did it asa a favor to his friend. Imagine that!"
"I know." Rachel said.
"I've always thought your food sucked." Wesley said. Alison and Rachel stared at him. "I thought you meant Rachel."
"Heh heh." Rachel laughed sarcastically.
A nurse walked into the group.
"All right, the doctor has decided that since you are all having the pregnancy test done, he will take you in all at once. The men will have to wait out here."
"I have no problem with that. Really." He said kissing Alison on the cheek.
"See you in a bit? Mommy?" Ross said. "Or maybe Aunt Mommy." He said to Monica.
The three girls went through the door. Rachel looked back at Ross.
"I wonder if he thinks...nah, couldnt be." She thought then followed the trio to the examination rooms.

Chandler called Rachels number, there was no answer except for the answering machine that kicked on after the second ring. He had called about something he was trying to remember but as the machine clicked on, he instantly forgot it again. As the message scrolled on, he tried to think of an alternative message to leave to her.
"Please leave a message at the beep." Ross's voice said.
"Hey, Ross wanna play racketball sometime?" He said, feeling like his voice wasnt coming out of him but some overachieving jock guy. He slapped himself on the head. "Call me sometime." He hung up. "Thats it. I'm gonna go nuts. I'm gonna be one of those crazy old people who thinks cat food is a perfectly good sandwich spread!"
He threw himself on the couch and turned the tv on. "Oh well, maybe I wont have any taste buds left by then."

The doctors office

The girls had been waiting for the results to come for fifteen minutes now. Rachel was reading a Ms magazine while Ross thoroughly enjoyed a National Geographic magazine he must have read a thousand times.
"In the movies, it takes 5 minutes to get the results back." Monica said.
"They have something called time lapse. It seems shorter than it really is. To ease or cause suspence. At least I think so.
"Either that or it only feels longer when its you thats waiting for the results." Wesley added.
The doctor emerged from the front office. "Ladies I have your results." He said.
"Great." Rachel said. "You took long enough."
"I had to take a bathroom break. So shoot me." He said. "Ms Green, Ms Geller, you are not pregnant." He said. "Ms David. Congratulations."
There were two thumps on the floor. Ross, Rachel and Monica looked. Both Wesley and Allsion had passed out.
"Wow, that was totally unexpected." Rachel said.

Later

Rachel checked the answering machine as they got home.As soon as she heard Chandlers voice, she erased the message, the only one and hit speed dial #4 on the phone.
Chandler picked the phone up on the first ring.
"Hello?" Chandler asked.
"Hi." Rachel said. "You called."
"Yeah."
"What about?"
"I wanted to see how you were." He replied.
"You dont play raquetball." Rachel said. "You were expecting me to pick up, weren't you?"
"Yeah." Chandler said. "You sound tired."
"I am." She said.
"And a little bit of some kind of relief at the same time. What did you do today?"
"Ross took me to the doctor. He thought I was sick, and I was. I thought I might be pregnant."
Chandler swallowed hard.
"What happened?" He asked.
"Monica and Alison were there. They all felt the same way I did." Rachel said and took a pause. "Chandler I'm not pregnant but it turns out that Alison is."
Chandler exhaled, he had realized he had been holding his breath.
"Is that good or bad?" He finally said.
"It's good. I wasnt ready to be a mom yet. Not now anyway." Rachel said. "It stunned Wesley and Alison, knocked them dead on the floor. It took almost a whole bottle of smelling salts to wake the big lug." She smiled. "They want to call the boy Chandler."
"As long as its not a girl." Chandler replied remembering Pheobes children.
"Yeah. If its a girl It will be Rachel Elizabeth. After me and her mom." Rachel said.
"No middle name for me?" Chandler asked.
"Wesley thought of Crosby." Rachel said rubbing her head. "I got to go now, I have a killer headache."
"Okay bye." Chandler said. "Love ya." He said quickly and hung up. Rachel sat with the phone to her ear.
"Who was that?" Ross asked.
"Oh uh..." Rachel put the phone back on the cradle.
"Telemaketer." She answered.
"If its anything but National Geocgraphic turn em down."
"Okay." Rachel said.
"Don't worry. We'll have a Ross Jr. Someday." He kissed her on the head. "We'll just have to work on it more, thats all."
"Great." Rachel smiled. "All a girl could ever ask for."
