"Check yes or no"

"I'm finally giving Pete an answer today." Monica said as she served Chandler a piece of pecan pie. Monica had brought over some cheer up food to Chandler. Chandler didnt need any actual cheering up. Monica had an excuse to cook. Nerves. She was nervous about what how Pete would react to her decision about his proposal. So she cooked the night away. When she was done she had several desserts and four main dishes. She made the rounds delivering the goodys, finally ending up at Chandlers house.
Chandler dug into his pie.
"When did he ask you again?" He asked in between swallows. "December? Petes incredibly patient for waiting this long."
"I know." Monica said. "I didnt want to jump right into a choice, you know?" "When are you going over?" Chandler asked.
"Right now." Monica said. "Wish me luck."
"Ok. Take it easy on the guy, no matter what his decision is." Chandler advised her.
"Is Kathy is coming over today?" Monica asked.
"Yeah." Chandler said.
"I'll leave some food here." Monica said. "With food in her mouth, you wont be forced to make small talk."
"I never thought of that. Thanks."
Monica waved and left.

Minutes later

Chandler opened the door for Kathy.
"Hello." Kathy said leaning in to kiss Chandler. Chandler flinched. "I guess we're not quite at the kiss hello stage right?"
"It'll take some time." Chandler admitted closing the door.
"And we've got time." Kathy said. "I'm going to be on vaction for two weeks, you are going to be mine, all mine mister." She cackled loudly. Chandler stepped back. "Oh I'm sorry, did I hurt your little eardrums?" She pouted. "Let me kiss them all better. Oh, thats right, you cant kiss that far into the ear. I'll just have to settle for your lips." She pecked him on the lips. "Better." Kathy sighed. "Relax. I'm not going to hurt you. Yet." She strolled to the living room and plopped on the couch.
Chandler rolled his eyes heavenward and followed her.
Kathy moved to pull out something from her pocket. Chandler watched her.
"Whats that?" He asked.
"Oh this?" She pulled it out. "I thought we would watch Love Story." She explained. "Since this is our first date in years, no sense moving into the bedroom this soon."
Chandler sighed and sat down. It was gonna be a long night.

Le Restaurant Expesive'

Monica was seated at a table in the corner. Pete had not yet arrived but he had this place reserved expressly for her at this time. She looked around. It was very fancy, and very expensive.
"Excuse me miss?" The waiter that brought her to the table reappeared. "I have a message for you."
"For me?" She asked. "No one else knows Im here."
She said to herself while unfolding the fancy lace paper that had the message.
"Monica." She read to herself. "I'm so sorry I can't meet you. I've met someone. Her name is Karen. I know I asked you to marry me some months back but you took so long to decide, I already knew what you had decided."
Monica looked up as someoone approached the table.
"Hi Monica." Pete said.
"You've met someone?" Monica said.
"Yeah." Pete sat down. "I don't know how, but it just happened that way. I said that I would wait forever for you Monica. But then something changed in me those months you took to decide whether you wanted to marry me or not." He said. "Then it became clear. You dont want to marry me, do you?"
"No," Monica said. "I already had one botched wedding this past year. I wasnt ready to jump into again." "Understandable." Pete said.
"But I'm happy for you!" Monica said.
"Thanks." Pete said. "I met her the first time last week."
"You only met her a week ago?" Monica said astounded.
"I know. Its crazy but I just know I want to spend my life with her. Its one of those destiny things. Thank god you spent so much time deciding what do say to me! Otherwise I would have never have met Karen." Pete sighed. "I have got to go. Please, stay and have dinner on me."
"I wish you all the luck in the world." Monica said.
"Thank you." Pete said. He left.
"Are you ready to order to madame?" The waiter returned instantly. "I'll have the clam chowder." Monica said. She sighed as the waiter walked away. She ordered, even though she knew she had no appetite left at all.

Chandlers

Kathy had left minutes ago. He was about to close the door when Monica returned. She was in tears. She stumbled into the door with a wet hanky in her hands. It was the expensive silk type you find at your major snooty eating places.
"Oh my god, what happened?" He asked her.
She hugged him tightly. "He knew I wasnt going to get married to him. He's met someone else!"
"Oh my god." Chandler said. He brought her over to the couch. "Have a seat."
"He said it was spur of the moment, but I think he knew for a while." Monica said.
"You took a lot of time in deciding, you know."
"I know. He even thanked me for that." Monica sniffled. "Can you imagine?"
"No."
"I really am going to be an old maid!" Monica said. "My most recent stable relationship was with that guy who left me and you!"
"I don't know how to feel about that." Chandler smiled.
"I know." Monica said. She laid his head on his chest.
"I think hes out there somewhere Monica, the fabled Mr Right. All he has to do is pop out of the woodwork at the right time. Right Mon?" He got no answer. "Mon?" He was answered by snoring. "Right."
