"Thats What Love Can Do"

"If anyone in this church objects to this union of Ross Geller and Rachel Green, please speak now or forever hold your peace."
There was a moment of silence. Ross and Rachel turned and looked at the crowd behind them, hoping no one would jump up.
Then suddenly someone cleared their throat. Ross and Rachel looked at the person, with great alarm.
"You?" Rachel said. "Why would you want to stop the wedding?"
Chandler stood in front of Rachel, he looked at Ross. "I can't let you marry Ross, not after all we went through." He said. A big gasp flowed through the church, as if someone had dropped a glass of water and let it spread everywhere. Joey and Phoebe looked at each other. Monica sighed and rubbed her head.
"Oh no." She said.
"But why didnt you say something before this?" Rachel said.
"This whole wedding thing came so unexpected." Chandler said. He looked at Ross. "Is there somewhere we can talk?"
"Uh sure but...." Rachel started.
"But nothing." Ross said, taking her hand. "Anything he got to say, he can say it to me."
"All right." Chandler took a deep breath. "Rachel I never stopped loving you. I don't think I ever will."
"That may be true but what makes you think you're the best man for Rachel? After all you were only together, what a month? Thats not long enough to get to know her and love her like I have." Ross cut in again.
"Yes, but at least I didn't take 20 years to finally get her to the alter." Chandler said.
"Oh, that had to sting." Joey muttered.
"Should we go up there?" Phoebe asked.
"No, what would we do anyway? We would be in the way. Plus this is much more interesting." Joey said.
"Yeah." Wesley said. "Like an extremely bad Melrose Place."
"Which one?" Alison asked. "They were all bad."
"Good point." Wesley muttered.
"You know why you made me best man? Because I AM the best man for Rachel, we all know it." Chandler said.
"Rachel you will have to choose." Ross said looking at her.
"Well I..." Rachel started. "Whats that noise?" Ross and Chandler looked up, ceiling beam had come loose. Ross and Chandler dive for Rachel.

Minutes later

A couple of fire trucks had come by. What had ended the arguement at the alter so suddenly was the fact that a supporting beam from the ceiling came loose. It was right over where the trio and the ministed were standing. If they had waited a second more, they could have all been crushed, then it wouldnt have mattered who loved who.
Chandler took an aspirin and groaned as a nurse put some idoine on a cut.
"Could you not do that?" He asked the nurse who gave him no response.
Ross looked over at Chandler. "How could you do that man?"
"I don't know." Chandler muttered. "I still have feelings for Rachel. I was hoping we could sort them out before you two got married. I guess that wasn't meant to be either."
"How was I to know the church we were using was just barely condemned?" Ross said back.
"The sign out front was a big clue." Chandler responded. "I don't know what go into me. Like I said, it was just something that happened."
"So what is it? Do you love her or not?" Ross said. "If you did still have feelings for her, then I have ever right to be angry with you. But if you did it for some other reason..." He shook his head. "I have to admit you saved our lives. We weren't paying any attention to the obvious creaking that was going on overhead. If we waited a second longer, I don't want to think about what really happened."
"I just need to talk to Rachel, Ross." Chandler said. "What should have happened after you found out about me and her was that should have sat down and talked about it. We should talk about it now."
"Good idea." Ross agreed. "Do you know where she is?"
"No." Chandler admitted. "I havent seen her since we almost got beamed by the beam."
Ross reluctantly chuckled at that. "Maybe things won't be so bad. We'll probably look back on this one day and think of this as our Soap Opera Wedding."
"Which soap opera though?" Chandler asked.
"If anyone asks, we'll say Dynasty." Ross said getting up. "Rachel?"
"Rachel?" Chandler called. "She was over there." He pointed to a ambulance getting ready to leave. Joey came from around the corner wiping some sweat off his face. "Have you seen Rachel?"
"Nope, man, sorry." Joey said. "Can't help you."
"Hmm." Ross said. He quickly frisked Chandler who gave him a weird bugged eyed look. "Just wanted to make sure shes not down the front of your pants."
"There'd be enough room in there all right." Joey said hiding a laugh.
"Where did Rachel go?" Chandler asked. "And why would she go without telling one of us?"
"More importantly..." Joey started. "can we have a piece of that wedding cake now?"
Ross and Chandler looked at Joey.
