"The Boy Is Mine"

Rachel woke up early that morning. She was already somewhat awake that morning anyway, she didn't sleep very well last night. Its been more than 48 hours since she told Ross she would think about his marriage proposal. He had gotten down on one knee and proposed while they were at the museum. She had told him she needed some time to think about it. Forty eight hours later she was in fact ready to tell him what it was but he had an unexpected trip out of town.

Also that weird incident with Chandler on Halloween, where they thought they were with the girl Chandler had been seeing for couple months. They decided that what happened with Naomi was part of a dream, and left it at that. One thing was wrong with the theory, Chandler never "saw" her again. Despite the weird X-Files like circumstances, he admitted he missed Naomi, or whatever it was he saw. But Rachel knew he felt different. Then her decision was then again delayed a day by a job Joey had gotten for her at a mud bog, as the queen, so it wasnt exactly the right time to tell him either.

After they got cleaned up after a little spill at the mud bog, Rachel brought Ross aside.
"Come see me on top of the Empire State Building, tomorrow, at nine o'clock. You remember the empire state building?" Rachel asked.
"The tallest building in town, how can I miss it? I know we reunited up there." Ross kissed her on the nose. "I'll be there. It's a date."
Rachel slid out of bed and went to search for a dress for the occasion. After all, she had to look pretty and happy. She was happy because she knew how she was gonna respond to Ross's preposal.

But now one little problem. How was she gonna say it? "I'm going to say... " Rachel smiled. "I do?" She shook her head. "Hmm." She thought a minute more. "I got it!" She slipped on her dress, checked her hair and went out the door.

Chandler was getting ready for work when Rachel came out in her favorite lavender dress. He put down his briefcase on the table and looked at her.
"Where you going today Ms dressy-dress?" He asked.
"I think you know." Rachel said. "You came over when I was talking to Ross."
"You saw me eh? Rats. Oh well I wouldn't have made a good spy anyway." Chandler confessed jokingly. "I guess you're going to tell Ross whether you're gonna marry him or not."
"Yeah." Rachel said. She thought for a minute. "I've always wanted to ask, well not always, its only been a few weeks. Do you still have, uh, you know, those types of feelings for me."
Chandler looked at her for a second. "I'm not sure. It's been awhile. Offhand I'd have to say no."
"Good." Rachel said. She went over to him and hugged him. "I'll see you later, ok?"
"I'm gonna go see Monica at the restaurant." Chandler said. "They're serving grits today, extra muck included. Want me to grab you a doggy bag?"
"Nah." Rachel said. "I wouldn't want to take you away from all them tasty grits."
"Ok." Chandler said watching her leave.

In the hallway Rachel was halfway down the stairs before the thought occurred to her.
"Wait a minute." She thought looking back up at the door. "Monica doesn't serve grits."

Back in the apartment, Chandler crashed on the couch and flipped on the television. He had no intention of going to work now, knowing that Rachel was going to tell Ross that she was going to marry him. He sat up and thought for a minute. Out of the whole year, he had been with three women, two that wear actually alive. He still wasn't sure to make of his Naomi visitation had on him, but it did have an impact on his life. He had been with two women and yet somehow they had both left him. He laid back down, and thought about Rachels question again. He had not been able to think about it while she was there, looking into his eyes. Her eyes made it incredible hard to think. She had a mind freezing affect on him, it was the only way he could describe it.
He sat back up, realizing he had had an epiphany.
"Oh my god." He said out loud. "I still love Rachel!"

Subway

Rachel hopped aboard the subway as the clock struck 7:30. She had checked the time on the terminals clock before boarding. She sighed as she found a seat next to a funky smelling dude.
His head fell into her lap. She shifted uneasily. After lightly pushing his head he got up and moved.
"Great." She muttered, wiping left over bum fungus off of her lap. Barring any future accidents, she thought she would get to Empire State in fine style.

Monicas Restaurant

Chandler knocked on the back door. Monica looked out the delivery door.
"Hey, I thought you weren't gonna come today." Monica smiled. "The leftover mozerella sticks are in the small fridge. Someone took a bite out of one, but it must have been a mouse.."
"A mouse named Monica." Chandler said as he picked a stray strand of mozerella of of her lip.
"Oh that? I have no idea how that got there." Monica rubbed the spot.
"Actually I'm not here for the food." Chandler said.
"Thats what one restaurant critic said, but I changed his mind." Monica said. "Whats on your mind?"
"Well there is no other way to say it but to say it." He took a deep breath. "Rachels going to tell Ross that she wants to marry him but I think I'm still in love with Rachel." He said as he let the breath out. "I don't know what to do." Chandler said rubbing his hair. "Please tell me what to do."
"Honestly?" Monica asked.
"Yeah, I'd like that."
"I don't think there is anything you can do." Monica said.
Chandler looked up at her.

The street

Rachel looked up at the Empire State Building. She smiled when she thought of who might be up there. Ross, with a dozen Roses and enough hugs and kisses to last for a long time. A hug would be nice right. It was freezing out. Rachel took a deep breath and entered the building.

Ross was standing at the edge of the balcony. He wrapped his coat around him tigher. It was so cold up here. He should have checked the weather channel before coming up here. At least he could have picked another sweater to give to Rachel when she came up.
"Come on Rachel! I'm freezing my jimmies off." He thought.
"Ross?" He heard her voice. He turned to see her. The light over the elevator entrance in back of her lit up her whole face. She smiled.
"Hey!" He said, he came closer.
"I guess you know why I'm here today." She smiled.
"Yes." Ross said.
"Well, its too cold for any kind of talk, I guess." Rachel took a deep breath. "Ross Geller, man of my life, my heart and my soul. Yes I will marry you."
"Oh my god." Ross picked Rachel and kissed her. He then swung her around a little bit. The cold breeze made her cheeks glow red. "Are you cold?"
"Its cold out here? I didn't notice." Rachel smiled.
"Let's go." Ross said. They walked to the elevator when the stopped. Rachel looked.
"Hi Chandler." Rachel said.
"Hey, I thought I would be the first to come up and congratulate you guys!" Chandler said smiling. Rachel thought she sensed a little uneasiness in her friend. Maybe it was her imagination.
"Thanks!" Ross shook his hand. Chandler leaned forward and gave Rachel a big hug.
"I'm finally getting married!" She said to Chandler.
"Yeah. You're getting married all right." He said. Then he closed his eyes. "You're marrying Ross."
