"I been wondering." Rachel said as Chandler cooked dinner. She sat across from him at the kitchen counter. "Did she ever say what ever happened to whats his name?"
"Who?"
"Steve? Remember Linda ran off with Steve, Monicas fiancee when she supposedly went off to the coast." Rachel reminded him.
"I never asked her. I guess they broke up." Chandler said. "Why do you ask?"
"I dunno, it just seems so strange that she would come abck so quickly, I mean if she was in love with Steve she would have brought him back with him."
"Or unless it was over long before she got this new job." Chandler said.
"Why don't you ask?" Rachel said.
"Yeah." Chandler said. "I think I will." He slid her a plate of spaghetti. "I hope its done, I didn't have time to throw it against the wall."
"Ah, I was getting used to the sprinkle of drywall." Rachel complained.
"Maybe next time." Chandler said getting his own plate.
Chandlers phone rang.
"I'll get it, I'm closer." Rachel said reaching for Chandlers cordless phone.
"Hello."
There was nothing. For the longest time there was silence on the other end of the phone. Then a quiet breathing could be heard. "Hello?" She asked again. Then a quiet voice said something. "Maybe next time." She thought she heard and then the dial tone could be heard. Rachel looked at the phone.
"What is it?" He asked.
"Dunno. It was quiet." Rachel said deciding not to mention the voice she heard. Maybe she didnt even really hear it.
"Damn telemarketers." Chandler said. "The next time you call make sure to demand they take you whatever calling lists they have, ok?" He and touched her hand. "It'll be allright. The last thing we need is another flowbee in the house."
Rachel nodded. "Sure."

Later

Alison still sung regularly at the club she worked at, even though she was pregnant. She thought it was okay, because the work wasnt as hard as anything else she might be doing. Wesley made her promise to stop when she got close to her due date, which was now the spring.
Rachel and Chandler had gone to "the Nite Spot" to see her that night. She had chosen to perform a broadway reivew, choosing a lot of songs from musicals she liked.
Alison had just finished her piece. She joined the couple at their table.
"Hey you two." Alison said hugging them both.
"How are you?" Rachel asked helping Alison into a chair. "You're getting pretty big there."
"Wesley keeps me well fed." She said. "I need a favor from you."
"What?" Chandler asked.
"I know we've been asking you to help a lot but Wesley is going out of town this week with Miss She bitch." Alison said.
"Alison!" Rachel said. Alison rarely had a bad word to say anything bad about anyone.
"It's true. The woman is like a virus, eats everything in site. Chandler would have had to have gone with her if not for my hubbys quick thinking." Alison explained. "So he's stuck with her."
"Man I feel so sorry for him." Chandler said.
"Anyway we are starting lamaze tomorrow. I'm pretty far along. I need a partner and I was hoping you could come." She said looking at Chandler.
"Sure." Chandler nodded. "I'll be happy too."
"Thanks." Alison said and gave him a card before going up for an encore. "It's just a lot of breathing, but I need help."
"Anything to help." He said. Chandler grabbed Rachels hand.
"You ever think of having a kid?" She asked.
"We only been back together for a couple of weeks. Let's not get ahead of each other." Chandler said.
"I know but before we only looked forward to the next time we would see each other. No idea how long it would last." Rachel said. "Now that we know for sure, I'm gonna look more to the future." She thought. "Thats funny, when me and Ross were first together I wigged out when he said that he was thinking of the future. Now I'm really doing it. And I think I know why." She pointed at him. "It's because of you. I wasnt thinking of the right future with the right person."
Chandler took her finger. She smiled and kissed him on the forehead.

When Rachel got up that night to get a drink the phone rang again. She went over to the wall phome and picked it up.
"Hello?" She said. She waited for a minute. The strange long silence was back.
"Look, whoever you are this is getting less funny." Rachel said.
"I got your attention." Rachel heard the voice said. "That means you arent thinking about something else." It continued and hung up. Rachel quickly dialed star 69 to get to find out who the person was. Sometimes the method didnt work, but they had mostly tried it on telemarketers. The phone on the other end rang.
"Hello?" Linda said.
Rachel said nothing, and fingered the cord.
"Hello?" Linda asked again.
Rachel hung up. She frowned. Was Linda the one who called? And if so, why?
"Anyone on the phone?" Chandler said sticking his head out the door. The phone had awakened him too.
"Nobody important." Rachel said. "Some perverted breather." She said on her way back to the room.
"Wow, I'm getting a lot of anonymous fans lately." He said.
"More than I'd like anyway." Rachel said.
"We'll get a call id box in the morning." Chandler said.
"Thats a great idea." Rachel said as she went back to sleep.
